In response to the changes in our country marked by questions, anxiety and distress, we offer the following with care and support for you, those you know and love, and all of our collective mental health. We urge that you:
- Please Stay Safe.
Our first job, now as always, is to be safe and well. We cannot help anyone else or face any day without being safe and well. Please stop and think about what you need to do to be safe in the context of National changes. Wait and watch with care: avoiding all excited messages you might receive via social media of any kind. Being safe means holding your conversations with those you trust, in person: not over any written media. Nothing is happening in the next ten minutes: stop, watch, consider your needs and how you can and will be safe.
- Please remember: Everything is Temporary
Everything changes. This is For Now, and now only. Our country, and all countries around the world have faced difficult periods of time, and have changed. How can you make it through these four years? What do you believe you need or want to do during these four years, to change or fight for people and laws in our country? Whom can you ask or reach out to, as you work for things that matter to you? Stay safe, work to protect or change things, and remember that this is temporary.
- Please know you have power. You CAN safely take action.
Through the history of time, we have helped each other survive when we are at risk. Please remember, this must occur within the context of being safe, yourself. We have always created powerful, sustainable and silent networks to help people survive. We do this by working together and without fanfare. Many, many people – and programs designed to help people – are now suddenly and terribly vulnerable. There is always a way, for any of us, to exert our power on their behalf. Think about this like that old elementary school science experiment: you drip little drops of water on a penny, one drippy-drop by one drippy-drop, until the water spills over and nourishes the area around the penny. Everything you do to help is one drop of water: and each drop matters with power designed to break the surface tension and spill over, nourishing the area around you. Pick your passion. Think simply. You have agency. There are places waiting for you to drip one little drop of water.
If any of this does not make sense or leaves you feeling more distress, please call the office right away. We offer these words with hope and genuine belief that you can be safe, survive this period in our country’s history, and thrive on your own agency to support those most vulnerable at this time. There is no other hidden or suggested message intended in any of these words.

You are always welcome, here. The number of patients admitted to this practice is specifically limited, allowing us to have an enduring, respectful therapeutic connection within which you are known and heard.
When you do not care about yourself or anything else, we will care for you until you can rise, again. While you are here, you will learn why it is reasonable to value yourself. You will build ways to meet and exceed your work, school, social and family goals. You will know how to ask for what you need with clarity and success, and you will achieve optimal health.
Health is all about balance; and balance is not a static condition. Practicing and experiencing balance creates true confidence, which is a rare and powerful condition. True confidence is not about arrogance; it is about knowing your genuine capabilities and having the resilience to tolerate distress while you learn to recognize and celebrate your purpose and success.

Talk Therapy (Psychodynamic, Play Therapy, Group Therapies, Family Therapies), Behavioral Therapy (CBT, DBT, ACT, Mediation), Walking Therapy, and Psychoeducation, are all Preferred Practice methods.
How we design your treatment will be based on what you need, and your personal therapeutic plan will be totally, utterly and completely about who you are and what works for you.

Initial Evaluation
A Comprehensive Biopsychosocial Exam
Your Initial Evaluation is a critical part of knowing how we can effectively work together, to plan the course of your therapy. You are not merely a bunch of feelings, nor are you a bunch of recent events. You are a whole human person, impacted by everything in and around you. The Initial Evaluation does not delay the start of your treatment: you will receive feedback, psychoeducation, and treatment throughout these evaluative sessions, just as you will moving forward.
Individual Treatment
Individual Therapy is the most familiar traditional "talk therapy" situation, which is different depending on who you are, what you need, and what works for you.
We may walk and talk, sit and talk, debate, argue, plan, compete, consider, or work on a project and talk. I may work for you as an Advocate, or support you when you need to advocate for yourself. Our work during these sessions might meet the definition of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, or Play Therapy. If we are trying to address something that terrifies you, we might be going on Field Trips (but not right away) Whatever you need in order to thrive is what we will do.
These are Individual Treatment sessions.
More Than One Client Therapies
A Different Hour
Family Therapy includes anyone you call "family" (within reason!) This work will not be led by the same therapist with whom you work in your Individual Therapy, for a lot of good reasons.
Group Therapies can be used alongside Individual in this office, and are considered one of the most powerful modalities of therapy for adolescents.
Couples Therapy is limited to two clients at a time, and
Parenting Sessions can be provided in conjunction with pediatric individual therapy or as a modality in and of themselves.
These are all dynamic and effective treatment modalities. Using one over the other, or one in addition to another, is all based on what you need and how we can work together to make your life better.
